MY FIRST SUMMER
La sedicenne Claudia è stata cresciuta in una sperduta casa rurale dalla madre, famosa scrittrice affetta da malattia mentale, che l’ha convinta che il mondo esterno sia il diavolo. Dopo il suicidio della madre, impaurita dal mondo esterno, Claudia continua a nascondersi nella sua sgangherata vecchia casa, con l’adorato cane come unica compagnia finché Grace, una vivace adolescente locale, appare nel suo giardino come un miraggio, sconvolgendola come una sferzata di aria fresca. Fra le due coetanee si crea velocemente un legame molto stretto, e l’una trova nell’altra il sostegno, l’amore e l’intimità di cui ha bisogno, imparando la forza risanatrice della relazione umana. La loro idilliaca pace però è destinata a mostrare tutta la sua fragilità quando il mondo degli adulti si rinchiude su di loro, minacciando la loro segreta estate d’amore.

16-year-old Claudia has grown up in isolation from the outside world. Her mother, a famous writer with a mental sickness, has persuaded her daughter that the outside world is dangerous. Stranded on a remote property after her mother’s death, she is shocked when Grace, a spirited local teen, appears in the garden like a mirage, a breath of fresh, sugary air. The pair find in each other the support, love and intimacy they need, and teach each other the restorative power of human connection. But their idyllic peace is a fragile one as the adult world closes in and threatens their secret summer love.
