Nel 1972, una professoressa universitaria di matematica, Maria Silvia Spolato, perde il lavoro e l’affetto dei suoi cari quando si dichiara pubblicamente omosessuale durante una manifestazione per i diritti della donna: è la prima donna in Italia a farlo. Senza più riuscire a trovare un lavoro o un posto nella società, trascorrerà il resto della sua vita per strada, da senzatetto, coltivando l’imperitura passione per la matematica fino alla morte, avvenuta il 31 ottobre 2018. In 1972, a University Professor of Mathematics, Mariasilvia Spolato, loses her work and the affection of her loved ones when she comes out as a lesbian during a demonstration for women’s rights. She is the first woman in Italy to do so. Not being able to find a job or a place in the society of her time, she has spent the rest of her life on the street as a homeless woman, cultivating her undying passion for mathematics, until her death on 31st October 2018.
